EZ & EZ Max Encoders

It’s the little things!

Don’t let the EZ family of encoders fool you! They are easy to use, have a ton of processing power, are super portable and even rack mountable by the threes...

EZ and EZ Max Encoder are powerful contribution edge encoding devices designed for the point-of-production, delivering both low-latency and cost-efficiency, and wrapped up in surprisingly small packages that are easy to set and forget.
EZ Encoders are standards-based, Qualcomm SnapDragon powered, scalable UHD 4Kp30 (4Kp60 for EZ Max) devices perfect for all types of time-sensitive professional live streaming workflows.

Pro features to enhance workflows

EZ & EZ Max Encoders are available in three configurations, perfectly packaged and upgradable, to enhance any live streaming workflow. Cloud Control for EZ Encoders (included w/ vCare) provides device management and health monitoring for individual devices... or an entire fleet of edge devices.

Single Channel

  • Encode - Single Channel HDMI or SDI Input (x2 for Max) / Single Stream Output (1 x RTMP/SRT/RTSP/Zixi/WHIP - MPEG-2 TS Unicast x3 or Unicast x2 + Multicast x1), Single Profile
  • EZ device with perpetual encoding license for H.264, HEVC, AAC-LC, input resolution up to 4Kp30 with multi-channel audio, encodes up to 4Kp30, Closed Captioning
  • Static graphical overlay

Multi-Channel

  • Encode - Single Channel HDMI or SDI Input/Multiple Stream Output (3 x RTMP/SRT/RTSP/Zixi/WHIP - MPEG-2 TS Unicast x3 or Unicast x2 + Multicast x1), Single Profile
  • EZ device with perpetual encoding license for H.264, HEVC, AAC-LC, input resolution up to 4Kp30 with multi-channel audio, encodes up to 4Kp30, Closed Captioning
  • Static graphical overlay

Multi-Channel MBR

  • Encode - Single Channel HDMI or SDI input/Multiple Stream Output (3 x RTMP/SRT/RTSP/Zixi/WHIP - MPEG-2 TS Unicast x3 or Unicast x2 + Multicast x1), Multiple Profiles
  • EZ device with perpetual encoding license for H.264, HEVC, AAC-LC, input resolution up to 4Kp30 with multi-channel audio, encodes up to 4Kp30, Closed Captioning
  • Static graphical overlay
  • Multi-Bit-Rate encoding (MBR) ladder up to a total of 4Kp30 - HLS, DASH, Low Latency Chunked Transfer Encoding
  • OTT HTTP Push with dual posting
EZ and EZ Max support H.264/H.265/HEVC encoding and can achieve less than three-second worldwide latency, with outputs supporting both HLS and DASH using CMAF and six bit-rates up to 30 Mbps. EZ eliminates time-intensive, computational encode/decode/re-encode processes inherent in pure cloud workflows, handling these tasks at the point-of-production for increased efficiency.

Depending on configuration, EZ can send a single stream, or up to three simultaneous streams to major streaming platforms and local destinations, in the cloud or through the public Internet, making it the most versatile solution for both local workflows and broadcast video distribution. EZ can provide simultaneous RTMP/RTMPS streaming to online platforms (Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, Amazon Web Services), and support for RTSP, Unicast, Multicast, SRT, Zixi, WHIP and HLS/DASH.

EZ devices can be remotely upgraded at any time. Even more importantly, EZ can be activated for the LiveEdge® Ecosystem by purchasing an annual unlock key and subscriptions. LiveEdge® benefits include access to Videon’s continuous evolution via frequent release cycles, activated Compute, more LiveEdge® Cloud Control functionality, access to additional features such as SMPTE-336 w/ KLV - including timestamps to sync multiple camera sources and user-defined metadata, SCTE-35 ad marker insertion for monetization, and much more.

EZ Encoder Rack Mount

EdgeCaster Rack Mount

EZ Encoders come in a small chassis that is tiny and portable. That said, sometimes rack mounting is the best option for workflows with lots of live streams.
Simply add a LiveEdge® Rack Mount Tray (19") (1RU) for direct mounting of up to 3  EZ or EZ Max devices. This custom rack tray is optimized for heat dissipation.
